3.2 Narrative (Jan. 23)
This assignment had us do a mix of different assignments put together all while focusing on the topic of narrative.
Before You Start Assignment

- When I think of the word narrative, I think of a narrator, so it probably has something
to do speaking or telling the background.
- I think narratives are important because they help the reader or listener to
understand the story in a kind of summarized form because some narratives in
movies usually sum up everything that is happening.
- Yes because narratives can give us important information that can influence the
Activity 3.7
Movie: The Devil Wears Prada
- The plot of the movie is about a girl who is an aspiring journalist that gets hired as a
personal assistant for the editor in chief of a prestigious fashion magazine. As she
navigates her way through the demanding and competitive world of fashion, she
learns to adapt to pressure while maintaining her personal values and goals.
- The main themes would be ambition versus authenticity, and transformation.
- It is a three-act structure. It introduces conflict, shows development through
personal trials, and concludes in a resolution.

Think like a Scriptwriter

Partner: Brynley Blaszyk
- Sarah has a lifelong best friend, and she begins to notice unsettling patterns in
Bethany’s behavior. Sarah uncovers the truth that her best friend is an obsessive
psychopath and has been driven to murder anyone who tries to cause Sarah pain.
Bethany ends up disappearing before she can be exposed, leaving Sarah with the
lingering thought that the person who knows her best may be watching at all times
and waiting to strike again.
- This would be a good investment for the company as it would attract people who
enjoy thrillers, action, and mystery movies.

Movie: Eternals
- The movie doesn’t follow a straightforward and simple timeline. With the arrival of
the Eternals on Earth, it jumps across many points in time that span thousands of
years. It shows the evolution of the characters as they adapt to changing times,
such as early BC to our modern day.
Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy
- The film flashes back to the character’s origins as it shows why the act a certain
way. It shows the traumatic events that have happened before they became who
they are today.

Activity 3.10

Show: Loki
- We get to see Loki stealing the tesseract in the battle of New York from the Avengers
movie, where he diverges from the main MCU timeline. He ends up meeting Sylvie,
the female version of him, and other variants of himself and find out the truth about
the TVA. He experiences time slipping, which takes him to different points in time. In
the end, he ends up taking control of the whole multiverse to prevent infinite
branching and chaos.
- In the first season, it begins by him being marked as a variant by the TVA and
challenging them. He then navigates universal threats, confronts his other variant,
and finds out the truth about the TVA. Loki then begins to embrace moral
responsibility while still having his mischievous qualities. In the second season,
Loki’s variant kills He Who Remains, which threatens the multiverse. Loki then
masters time-slipping and negotiates cosmic problems. He finally comes together
with the temporal loom, or the multiversal timeline, and physically holds the
multiverse together to save the multiverse and prevent chaos.
- The show begins by showing how Loki escapes with the tesseract but ends with him
protecting the sacred timeline. It shows his character development from being a
villain to becoming a hero, or an anti-hero.

Activity 3.13

The Devil Wears Prada
-Hero: Andy, Helper: Nigel, Villain: Miranda, Donor: Emily, False Hero: Christian
- I don’t think there are any limiting factors because all of the character line up nicely with his theory. I’m not sure what category Andy’s boyfriend would go in because he is kind of just like a side character and doesn’t do too much other than be sometimes mad at Andy because of her commitment to her career.
- The producer was wanting the audience to feel sympathy for the hero as she was going
through all these difficult situations and the people who were trying to get in the way of
what she really wanted to do.
